Our Precious WATER

What can we do to ensure up to 45% savings in water consumption.

It is no exaggeration to say that water is the most valuable of all goods. A good, so simple, so self-evident, that is provided to us in abundance on our planet, tends to be the cause of mass population movements since it is becoming less and less.

In recent years there have been many remarkable efforts to desalinate water, protect water resources and good management on our part, on the human side, a being who really does not appreciate what the most beautiful planet in our solar system has to offer: Life!
……………………

We can ensure up to 45% water savings if we simply apply the practical tips:

-A family of four consumes 45 cubic meters of water per quarter
amount corresponding to about 500 litres per day
with small interventions inside the house the daily consumption is reduced to 224 litres

That begins by brushing one's teeth.
If during of this daily habit the tap is left open for five minutes the amount of water consumed reaches 20 litres.
But brushing your teeth can be done with just half a litre of water, ie 2 glasses.

-However, any housework related to a faucet opening can become more economical if you replace common batteries with self-regulating
which save up to 40% on water.

A brick in the toilet bowl can provide significant economy in water,
as it reduces the amount used by half each time (from 12 to 6 liters).
κάθε φορά (από τα 12 στα 6 λίτρα).

-According to experts, the shower is more economical than filling the bathtub
especially if the "phone" has a few small holes,
or if it has a special mechanism that stops the flow of water when is not
needed.

It is equally economical to wash the dishes by closing the tap
while the use of the economic program in the washing machines
ensures up to 50% reduction in consumption.

But washing the car may not be equivalent to reckless waste of water
, if done with a bucket and not with a hose.

-The use of automatic watering for the terrace reduces consumption of water by half.
One can choose plants that have the ability to save water
ie plants that do not need frequent watering
Such are the cacti, the aloe, the yucca or the lavender, as well as palm or acacia.
On days with intense sunshine, solution is also
the placement of plants in darker places
to avoid excessive perspiration.

Original methods and infrastructure projects that solve the problem.

In less than twenty-five years, two-thirds of the Earth's population
will suffer from lack of water. This is the conclusion of a UNESCO study on the Earth's water resources.
Water scarcity is already affecting several countries around the world.
And while in Greece, large quantities of water are lost at sea or on the road, it seems that our country must learn from many other countries to face the problem with infrastructure projects and original methods.

Water recycling is a well-known practice in other areas as well
as having problems with water scarcity. In Israel, 80% of them are recycled liquid waste
, which are reused for agricultural and industrial purposes use.
Tunisia follows a similar tactic.
Studies have shown that the specific use of water
does not have adverse effects on public health. Drinking water production projects
have been made in recent decades
in the states of Arizona, Georgia and California in the United States.

Water-saving policies are also applied by countries that do not have direct water shortage problems.
Flanders, Belgium, gives incentives to buy special household equipment for collecting rainwater,
, and is mandatory for each new building
to have such equipment.
