BLUE ARGOSARONIC 2025 was implemented by Greek Eco Project and the Hellenic Phycological Society (ELFE). For the 5th consecutive year, we continued seabed and coastal clean-up actions, and in the autumn of 2025 we expanded beyond Chalkidiki. Blue Argosaronic is an integrated environmental and scientific project focused on addressing marine pollution in the Argosaronic Gulf.

The aim of the project was to meaningfully raise public awareness about the impacts of marine pollution on the marine environment and, consequently, on human life, through participatory activities and experiential educationThe project was implemented through a comprehensive framework of interventions that combined coastal and underwater clean-ups, scientific recording of marine litter and study of benthic biodiversity, as well as educational activities that inform and actively engage citizens and students. Through this combined approach, was pursued not only the immediate restoration and protection of marine ecosystems, but also the cultivation of environmental awareness that will lead to long-term changes in attitudes and behaviour towards the environment.

Within the framework of the project, the following actions were carried out:

• Removal of waste from the seabed and coastlines of the Argosaronic Gulf.
• Scientific documentation of the origin and types of marine litter, as well as the condition of benthic biodiversity.
• Awareness-raising and active participation of citizens and students in marine environment protection actions.
• Highlighting the land-sea connection and the impacts of pollution and the climate crisis on marine ecosystems.
• Production of educational materials and tools (biodiversity card games) to support ocean literacy among children and young people.

The project coordination team was also supported by the Fisheries Research Institute (INALE), contributing scientific documentation and field expertise in marine monitoring through the analysis of water samples and microplastics.
