A FEW WORDS FOR THIS YEAR'S BLUE HALKIDIKI

Marine pollution is one of the biggest and more serious problems that our planet has to face today and sadly humans cannot realise the importance of this matter.

The people behind Greek Eco Project wanting to give a solution to this environmental crisis, created the project Blue Halkidiki.

Seven days of underwater and coast cleanups in Toronean Gulf, moving from beach to beach by catamaran.

In 2023, we made a record while collecting 8 tons of garbage from the bottom and from the beaches of the Gulf. Worth mentioning is the support of 98 volunteers, 12 from which were divers and 7 kids.

Blue Halkidiki returns one more year starting from the beginning of June with many coast cleanups in different beaches in Halkidiki, with the peak in 29 June until 5 July 2024 with underwater cleanups from our volunteer divers and from the support of our scientific partners from Hellenic Agricultural organization- Dimitra, Fisheries Research Institute.

GOAL OF 2024

For 2024, our goal is to gather more garbage from the coast and the bottom of Halkidiki.

Η Raising awareness and educating the public on marine pollution, is one of the most important purpose for which we organize and participate voluntarily in this significant effort.

Η Mobilization, however, is the outcome of the proper education and awareness, because in order to help our planet, we need concrete actions.

Our goal this year is not only to surpass last year’s 8 tons record, but also to succeed to educate and raise awareness within the local community about the issue of environmental pollution and the need for greater environmental consciousness και and a shift in mentalityso that more waste does not accumulate on the seabeds and beaches.

Μέσα από τις δράσεις καθαρισμού, αφήνουμε μια θάλασσα πιο καθαρή, πιο ασφαλή ενώ παράλληλα δημιουργείται η πολύτιμη ευκαιρία για την έρευνα του βυθού της Χαλκιδικής, την αποτύπωση του και τη γνωριμία με την θαλάσσια ζωή του Τορωναίου κόλπου και τι είδους ευρήματα και απορρίμματα υπάρχουν σε βυθό και ακτή.
