SKG Makers by Greek Eco Project
SKG Makers by Greek Eco Project is a collaborative space in Thessaloniki, dedicated to sustainable creation, material reuse, and hands-on learning through practice.
In 2018, the Municipality of Thessaloniki, in collaboration with organizations such as Q-PLAN International, the National Centre for Research and Technological Development, and the University of Macedonia, set in motion an ambitious idea: to create an open, collaborative space for creativity, knowledge, and innovation. This led to the birth of SKG Makers, which since 2021 has operated as a multi-purpose space for those who love to build, experiment, and share.
From September 2025, SKG Makers enters a new era. The environmental organization Greek Eco Project takes over the management of the space, bringing renewed energy along with fresh ideas, experience, and a strong passion for the environment. Grounded in the principles of the circular economy, SKG Makers by Greek Eco Project enriches the space with experiential educational programs, workshops, and initiatives aimed at shifting mindsets and inspiring action.
The space now becomes a hub of creativity and sustainable action. From school seminars to hands-on workshops for both children and adults, the goal is to instill the values of reuse, environmental awareness, and creativity in everyone. And of course, the doors are open to all: anyone can visit, bring an “unused” object, and give it a second life with the help of tools, machinery, knowledge, and community support.
Our Laboratories
Plastic Lab
The Plastic Workshop is equipped with specialized plastic processing machines, through which the full cycle of preparation, processing, and production of new plastic objects from single-use plastics can be completed.
Wood - Metal Lab
The Wood & Metal Workshop features both handheld and benchtop power tools, as well as a CNC Router machine capable of processing wood, metal, and plastic.
3D Printing Lab
The 3D Printing Workshop includes computers, 3D printers, and a machine that converts plastic (PET) bottles into filament for 3D printers.
At the SKG Makers workshops, we organize hands-on sessions where reuse is the central concept. We work with everyday items that were originally produced for single use and would otherwise end up in waste bins. The workshops primarily focus on the reuse of the following materials:
Wood
Plastic
Paper
Glass
Metal
