WHAT IS "BLUE HALKIDIKI"

Marine pollution is one of the biggest and most serious problems and the world has not yet realized its magnitude. Plastic waste is so much that it not only affects marine life, but now also our food chain.

The Blue Halkidiki project is a voluntary program designed by the members of the Greek Eco Project, through which we want to inform and raise awareness of the problem of plastic pollution and environmental issues. A trip to the wonderful Toroneos Gulf, which outside of its exceptional environmental importance, already attracts the interest of divers and volunteers.

A major coastal and seabed cleaning action, held in Halkidiki!

The project took place from 3rd to 9th July 2021.
The actions started on Saturday 3rd July {marking the day "Greece without single-use plastics" law came into effect} and lasted for a week until Friday 9th July.

Seven days of environmental actions in and out of the sea

The Greek Eco Project team, together with volunteers and partners, traveled along the coast of Toroneos Bay by catamaran. Every day on a different beach, the Greek Eco Project organized actions for the environment and its protection, underwater cleaning and coastal events.

Raising awareness and informing the world about marine pollution is the most important purpose we organize and voluntarily participate in this great effort.

The promotion of Halkidiki as a destination of particular interest, with the ultimate goal of supporting local bussinesses after a difficult season last year for everyone.

The opportunity created through this project for research of the seabed of Halkidiki, the mapping of the seabed and getting to know the marine life of the Toroneos gulf.

What kind of finds and debris are there on the seabed and on the shore.

And because summer and the beach are not only sunbeds and chilling, the Greek Eco Project organized a parallel activity to show that... we are also more than capable in sports.

Beach volleyball tournament at Lagomandra beach with the volunteers and crew of Blue Halkidiki. The referees were professional National level players, the prizes big and the enjoyment plentiful.

OUR BIGGEST SUPPORTER

Lagomandra Hotels took part in the action 'Blue Halkidiki', an initiative of the environmental organization Greek Eco Project that took place on 3/07/2021-9/07/2021 and concerns the cleaning of both the coasts and the bottoms of the Toroneos Gulf. The purpose of this project was to raise awareness of environmental issues and to contribute to the protection of the environment, seas, flora and fauna.
Lagomandra wished to contribute to the promotion of Halkidiki as an environmentally conscious destination and to set an example for other hotel units in the context of emerging ecotourism.

Clear blue waters without a trace of plastic garbage, crystal white sand without a trace of cigarette butts, beautiful green forests without a trace of burnt land. Together we made it! Now you can turn on the radio and enjoy your favorite music! You deserve it!

Our company Sailman Travel Agency is based in Nikiti, Halkidiki. In 2018 a group of distinguished tourism professionals with a common vision created a travel company in the heart of Halkidiki. Its basic foundations are the essence of Greek hospitality, the excellent knowledge of the region and the renewal of the concept of tourism.

Our main concern, individually and as a group, is always that our actions carry our ideas. For this reason, we are particularly happy when we come face to face with people and groups who practically support their vision and act as motivation, improving everyone's everyday life. The Greek Eco project is exactly that and we are looking forward to our summer collaboration! We are extremely lucky to be surrounded by so much beauty and it is vital that we show the necessary respect.

Our collaboration with the Greek Eco Project began by discussing and reaching common interests and goals, such as environmental awareness and interest in our planet and the environment. Our Earth and specifically our oceans, which occupy most of the planet, are saturated and urgently need human help.
The Greek Eco Project has the knowledge, ideas, will and appropriate human resources to undertake and implement such steps that will help our planet recover. We will be happy to help from our side in whatever is needed.
